Black History Month Program: Honoring the Evolution of Education in Gifford
🚨 NEW LOCATION – PLEASE NOTE
Join us for this year’s Gifford Academy for Performing Arts’ Black History Month Program as we honor two remarkable women who helped shape education in Gifford—Margaret Ingram and Annie Laura Powell—and share a special story created especially for our children about why people are all different shades of brown.
This annual program, led by our founder Dr. Crystal Bujol, is a meaningful opportunity for the community to come together in reflection, learning, and celebration. Through storytelling and historical remembrance, we honor the women whose dedication, leadership, and commitment to education helped lay the foundation for generations of students and families in Gifford.
📍 IMPORTANT LOCATION UPDATE
Please note that this year’s program will now take place at the gym inside the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC).
The GYAC is located immediately next door to the originally scheduled venue, making it an easy transition for attendees. If you arrive at the original location, simply walk next door to the GYAC gym. Staff and signage will be available to assist.
All are welcome to attend this community-centered celebration of heritage, resilience, and remembrance. This program is designed to be engaging for all ages, with special moments that speak directly to children while honoring the lasting legacy of education in the Gifford community.
